Jacinto Lageira will examine the idea of the naturalisation of the body in the performing arts (dance, musique, actions, happenings, etc.). The project starts out from Hilary Putnam’s famous essay “Why reason cannot be naturalized?” and applies it to the field of art and aesthetics. The question then becomes “ Can we naturalize the art body? Jacinto Lageira’s investigation proceeds through the work of Husserl, Merleau-Ponty, Sartre and Michel Henry, specifically with regard to somaesthetics and contemporary psychology.
